Fairtrade

Fairtrade is a global movement with a strong and active presence in the UK, represented by the Fairtrade Foundation. For more information on Fairtrade visit the Fairtrade Foundation website www.fairtrade.org.uk which contains lots of information on how Fairtrade works, who benefits and how you can help.

St Mark’s is designated a Fairtrade Church which means we

  • use Fairtrade tea and coffee after services and for all meetings for which we have responsibility.
  • are moving forward on using other Fairtrade products (such as sugar, biscuits and fruit).
  • promote Fairtrade during Fairtrade Fortnight and during the year through events, worship and other activities whenever possible.

Once a month we have a Fairtrade stall which sells products from Traidcraft plc  - one of the leading dedicated fair trade companies in the UK and globally. You can purchase goods from the UK’s widest range of fair trade foods, beverages, household cleaning, charcoal and rubber products, as well as fair trade crafts and clothing sourced from fair trade suppliers in more than 30 developing countries.

For every sale made at the stalls, 10% is given back to the church funds, so for every £1.00 spent St Mark’s receives 10p.   You can also order goods from the catalogue through the St Mark’s stall.

Buying Fairtrade items from your monthly Fairtrade stall is a good way to help raise funds towards the day to running of our church.  Just a bag of fudge at £1.50 gives 15p to your church funds.

Easy  - so what are you waiting for?
