Safeguarding & Child Protection

At The United Church of St Mark we take the protection of the children and vulnerable adults in our care very seriously. We have adopted the Church Of England “Promoting a Safer Church” Policy Statement, national policies and Practice Guidance of the House of Bishops and supporting diocesan safeguarding protocols. The Policy Statement, Policies, Guidance and Protocols are available to view on the diocesan website

“Promoting a Safer Church” sets out the Church of England’s commitment to making the church a safer place for all. The Policies and Practice Guidance applies to all Church bodies and officers and under new legislation all authorised clergy, bishops, archdeacons licensed readers and lay workers, church wardens and PCCs must have due regard to safeguarding guidance issued by the House of Bishops.

All the Children's and Youth Workers have up to date Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks and receive training, where appropriate.

Mel Bracey is the Parish Safeguarding Officer for St Mark’s.  Mel can be contacted via the safeguarding email

If you have an immediate concern for somebody’s well-being please contact our Vicar, Rev Des Williamson on 01737 339013 or by email.

The Promoting a Safer Church Policy and the Parish Safeguarding Policy can be found on our policies page.
