In December for the past few years members of St Mark’s have created Star Trail for children from Epsom Downs Primary School and Shawley Community Primary school. This year because of the high COVID numbers in the area we set up slightly differently. Instead of sitting in the tents the children sat in the church and the contents of the tents were revealed one at a time.
At the first tent, Setting Out, they heard about the journey of the wise men and talked about what they might need for a journey today and what the wise men might have taken. In the next 3 tents they explored the gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh then on to the splendour of the Christmas Present tent talking about gifts that are expensive and those that cost no money, before eventually arriving at the simplicity of the stable in Bethlehem.
The Mayor of Reigate and Banstead visited the Star Trail on Thursday morning and on Thursday afternoon Messy Church took part in the trail and afterwards iced star-shaped biscuits.
