RETIREMENTS Sunday July 27th was the final Sunday service led by Rev Des Williamson and Liz Townsend before their retirements.
Thank you to all those that helped, whether taking part in the service, organising the event, making food or clearing up and to all those who attended who helped to make this a special day for Des & Heather & Liz.
Here are thank you notes from Des and from Liz and 2 photos from the event courtesy of Emma and Julie.
FROM DES & HEATHER
Des and Heather would like to thank everyone for their generosity and kind words over this period of our send off. Thanks for the gifts and cards and blessings. We were very touched by people's love and care.
A special thanks too to the catering team and all their hard work and to those who brought and shared food for what was a wonderful send off event.

FROM LIZ
Dear all,
Thank you for the most wonderful ’send off’ last Sunday and for all the generous gifts - I found it so overwhelming (but in a good way!)
I arrived in Bognor Regis and to my little house on Tuesday evening and it was so strange - and I felt really sad and empty. About 15 minutes later my 2 oldest grandchildren arrived unexpectedly, took boxes upstairs, moved stuff into the shed outside and within an hour they had helped me create a lounge and set up my television. I felt so much better. There is a lot to do here but I have time….
I will be thinking and praying for you all at St. Mark's over the next days, weeks and months because I am guessing it will feel strange for you too. However, together, you have what it takes to keep St. Mark's running and begin to explore new ways of doing things…or not doing them. St. Mark's is already good - and has so much potential too: a beautiful building with a kind and gifted group of people. I look forward to hearing about your new adventures. Meanwhile, give me time and I will seek out the best Fish and Chip shops along the seafront! It is only 90 minutes away!
Much love to you all,
Liz
