Creation Season
From the end of May until the end of November the Church calendar is in what is known as 'Proper time'. The colour of decorations is green and so some clergy call it 'never-ending green season' because it lasts so long. Liz came up with a more positive name of 'Growing season' reminding us that growth is part of what it means to follow Christ.
In 1989 the Orthodox Church proposed 'Creation Season' during September and the first Sunday of October. We at St Mark's along with many Western Churches will celebrate Creation Season when we remember the world in which we live and for which we have responsibility. The readings are the same as ever but the slant is toward our world and how we bring justice, peace and thriving to all of creation. This will culminate on 3rd October when we have our Harvest Celebration and lunch. If you would like to decorate the Church or cook some food please let me know.
