Joy: a feeling of great pleasure or happiness.
What is joy?
The word comes from Latin gaudia, which means " joy, inward joy, gladness, delight; source of pleasure or delight”. The Latin word gaudere means “rejoice”. The Apostle Paul tells the Christians in Philippi to ‘rejoice in the Lord’ - this is remarkable as he may well have been in prison when he wrote this.
I have noticed that it is easy to be miserable when things don't go as I would like. However, remembering what a privilege it is to be alive seems to restore my joy - maybe my joie de vivre - or Joy of Life
If God's life is your source of joy, circumstances hold no sway.
Consider.
Joy is associated with Christmas because the angels told the shepherds to rejoice in the Good News that God had entered history in human form - i.e. God gets us!
What is the source of your joy? Is it solid or passing?
How could you spread a little joy this Christmas?
