Hope and anticipation
of the coming celebration
Childrens' joy at Christingle
Excitement builds as we await
Christ's birth for us to celebrate

WISH YOU WERE HERE
Wish you were here or I was there
Wish we were together anywhere.
Two cosy chairs by the fireside, close
But not touching side by side.
I can’t quite see is that your head?
Or were you tired and went to bed?
Am I about to arrive – or did I just go?
Is it just raining or is it snow?
It must be Christmas, I know by the tree
Are we inland or by the sea?
Is that big waves crashing onto the shore –
Or endless traffic close to the door?
Are we up the hill or halfway down?
In the country or in the town?
The cat and dog are left on guard
Maybe there’s horses in the yard.
A cuppa and chocolate for us to share
But are you still sitting there?
One day at Christmas whatever the weather
I pray somewhere we will be together.
