Baptism and Thanksgiving

Having a child is an exciting, sometimes scary time and it reminds us of the sacred nature of existence.  At St Mark’s we seek to help you celebrate and mark this joyous event in your family, in the community and in the church.

We offer two ways to celebrate the beginning of new life.

Thanksgiving and Naming ceremony  - for those who wish to mark this special moment but who do not feel able yet to make commitments to bring up their child as an active Christian within the church but still want to give thanks to God for the wonderful gift of a child.

Baptism/Christening - for those who feel ready to make commitments to bring up their child in the Christian faith through teaching them the faith and attending services regularly.

Both services include publicly giving your child a name, anointing with oil and godparents who make vows to support and help you in bringing up your child.

What do I do next?

If you are interested in either a baptism or thanksgiving service please contact Rev Des Williamson.
