Many of the Christmas traditions we celebrate today like trees and crackers all started in the Victorian era. This was when the idea of sending Christmas cards become popular too after the first commercially produced Christmas card was created by Sir Henry Cole in 1843.
Receiving a homemade card is always special. I have a box of Christmas cards from over the years that I have kept many of which are homemade - or school made.
This one was from my daughter when she was in reception class in 1994. It was simple but very effective although the colours are probably not as vibrant as they were then. It looks quite easy to do, but I feel that somehow it wouldn't come out quite as well if I tried it.
A more recent card was made by a toddler with help from mum.
First finger-paint a sheet of paper then cut out a bauble. What could easier.
Or instead of fingers a child's foot used to make a reindeer. Perhaps only good for little feet!
There are so many ways to make use of last years cards. Here's a couple of ideas.
Whatever cards you make this year will, I'm sure, be appreciated by the recipient. Have fun.
